Playa del Carmen - Tranfers information


In prehispanic times, Playa del Carmen used to be named “Xaman-Ha” which means in Mayan language “Northern Water”. It used to be starting point for the Mayan People in their pilgrimage to the sanctuary of the goddess Ixchel in Cozumel. The first modern settlement started in the early twentieth century populated mostly by fishermen, coconut farmers and “chicle” (gum) tree.

The destination of Playa del Carmen is located south of Cancun, is the head of the Solidaridad municipality, is located about 40 minutes from Cancun International Airport and is within the Riviera Maya being one of the most visited sites of the Mexican Southeast

The growth of this tourist destination has been enormous due to the touristic demand of 23,428 hotel rooms in operation and an annual affluence of travelers estimated to over two million people, mainly from Europe, Canada and the United States. Hotel projects are currently under way and will establish a growth in tourism infrastructure

Playa del Carmen is best known for its nightlife. In the main street called the 5th. Avenue which is parallel to the coast, you will find exclusive live entertainment establishments such as shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc.. Is very common that many couples around the world come to fulfill their dream of getting married in Playa del Carmen. Also you can enjoy a variety of activities that will make an unforgettable experience as scuba diving, catamaran ride, fishing, etc..


Playa del Carmen is well known by its white sandy beaches and stunning turquoise sea. Also, there are several attractions around mainly related to ecotourism and adventure such as: Xcaret, Cozumel, Xel-ha, Tulum and more.
