Airport Transfers – The only way to travel on

Are you going on a trip? Do you want to be sure you get from the Airport to your hotel or other destination without any hassle? 

Of course you could just arrive at the airport and look completely lost as you find ways to get to where you are going, however this is fraught with danger.  I recall my Brothers experience in a Bombay airport. He had 8 hours between his flights and when he landed and exited he was met by 2 sharply dressed gentlemen who advised him it was not safe to stay in the airport and they would take him to a hotel, of course it was a scam and he is, to this day, quite embarrassed that he paid over $400 US for a hotel that would normally cost $25US for the night.

Isn’t it nice for those people who have someone waiting for them at the arrivals hall. You know, the guys with the nice hats and a sign held up with your name on it? The convenience of stepping off the plane, strolling through to the arrivals hall and having someone take your bags. The safety and reassurance of being taken directly to your destination is fantastic and comforting. There are huge advantages and the cost of the transfer could be paid by getting a bit of local knowledge from the driver.  That Information on its own that would save you a lot of time and energy when orientating yourself to your new destination.

An airport transfer is  safe. Its convenient. Usually it does not cost much more than a taxi on a metre. It is certainly a whole lot cheaper that what you may end up paying if you go it alone. I am not scaremongering, I just want you to be aware you could become a target for the con artists who work the airport arrivals halls around the globe. Its the same in any situation. Research shows time and time again that if you walk confidentially down the street you will not attract attention. If you look lost and bewildered you become a person of interest to potential muggers and tricksters.

A recent airport transfer we took was amazing. We arrived after 22 hours travelling, 2 screaming kids and about 11 pieces of luggage. The last thing we wanted was the hassle of a taxi queue and a fare negotiation, especially after a long  trip on a plane. So, we organised an airport transfer. It was great, the guy had our name on his card and we found him instantly. He took over our largest trolley. He escorted us safely to his large mercedes passenger van and after a few minutes fixing the child seats in, we were on our way. Leading up to the trip and knowing we had this arranged made is all the more enjoyable and significantly reduced stress. He even had a small fridge with cold drinks, bliss.

Are airports emotional places?

Have you ever found yourself getting emotional at an Airport?

Airports are big and most are very busy. Everyone is going somewhere. The only people who stand still at airports are those who work there, they can observe the hustle and bustle.

You have and not because of dropping or picking anyone up. You were waiting for family to arrive and prior to this was watching others arrive. Surprising to yourself it was quite emotional to see people being welcomed by others, embracing, hugging, kissing, tears and joy. You could not believe these scenes would affect me. Yet they did, it must be a human behaviour to feel these emotions at seeing humans reunited after periods of being away from each other.

You are always envied the people who were met by a card carrying chauffeur. Wow, You thought, they must be rich to be able to afford that. It was only as You grew more experienced in travel You realised that you don’t have to be rich to get an airport transfer with a chauffeur. Its pretty much the standard way to be picked up. If you are after certainty, a bit of local knowledge and of course someone to hold your bags. Its the only way to travel.
